COC TOPAS

Cyclic Olefin Copolymer
COC particles, also known as cyclic Olefin Copolymer particles, are high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastics. COC has excellent optical properties, high transparency, low birefringence, as well as good heat resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. COC particles are formed by self polymerization of cyclic olefin monomers or copolymerization with other olefins, and their unique molecular structure endows the material with characteristics such as low water absorption, high strength, and low dielectric loss.

(1) Low density, about 10% lower than PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and PC (polycarbonate), which is beneficial for product lightweighting; (2) The saturation water absorption rate is small, and the COC water absorption rate is much lower than PMMA, which will not cause a decrease in physical properties due to water absorption and almost does not absorb water; (3) Due to the presence of monomers with low polarity and anisotropy, it is an amorphous transparent material with a low birefringence index; (4) The glass transition temperature of transparent resin with high heat resistance can reach 140~170 ℃, which is the heat resistance index of amorphous polymers; (5) Easy to inject into shape; (6) Excellent mechanical properties, higher tensile strength and elastic modulus than PC; (7) Excellent reproducibility leads to high product quality; (8) Low dielectric constant, especially good high-frequency performance, makes it the material with the best dielectric properties for thermoplastic materials; (9) Good scratch resistance, COC pencil hardness is similar to PMMA, and scratch resistance is an important performance indicator of optical materials; (10) The side chains of COC molecules have polar groups, which have good adhesion with inorganic and organic materials and are easy to seal;
